The Ocean of God

Abba, Your character is expressed in Your creation. Of all Your creation, I love the the Ocean the best! The way the waves continually roll, sometimes crash upon the shore or boom through blow-holes remind me of your faithfulness and strength. Always there, never ceasing. Somtimes in full force of You, other times a gentle reminder of You. The constancy of the tides tell me you are constant, no matter what.
The sands on the shore speak of your love and passion for me. Ps. 139 assures me that your thougths toward me are precious and more in number than the sands of the sea. I'm also reminded that You are Eternal ~ as far as my eye can see, I know the ocean goes further. You go eternally beyond what my eye can see.
The sunrise and sunset over the ocean reflects your beauty and creativity. The sheer volume and span reflect your greatness and totality when I remember that You measure the oceans in the palm of your hand!
The saltiness of the ocean reassures me that you will preserve my soul and you enhance the flavor of my life.
The ocean touches every continent, and metaphorically speaking, every man. You are a global, yet individual in your love and passion for mankind....and that's just the surface.
The strength of the currents which can carry a ship speak of your power to direct our lives into Your safe Harbor, yet the simple turn of the rudder or set of the sail reflects the ability and free will You gave me to choose my own path...may I always sail in your current!
The beauty of marine life, the various colors, textures, shapes, sizes, eco-systems, reflect your creativity and diversity. The whales tell of your greatness, the dolphins of your grace. Even the mighty shark reflects your power and strength.
There are areas of marine life yet to be discovered and studied...there are depths of your character I have yet to discover.
The beautiful coral reefs tell of your ability to restore life tot he lifeless and color to the colorless. Even when we think we are no longer of any use, we are something to somebody.
An entire world, one which can only be experienced if we are willing to leave the safety of the shore to brave the depths. To be a vulneralble speck in the sea. Just as it takes courage to don the snorkle or scuba gear and become vulnerable in the water, it takes courage to dive into the ocean of who You are~ but oh, the wonders that await!
Will I play on the shore, safe and content to find seashells ~ just a morsel of what's beneath? Or will I venture into the great depths of Who You are, becoming one with you to learn the secrets of Your great heart?
